My experience with having autism and learning music:

Having autism is a big advantage for me learning music. I’m sure it’s the reason why I have perfect pitch, and it also means I’m very good at practicing my violin because I am really good at focusing. Playing music with other people is also a way of getting me to socialise with people my own age. Which isn’t something I find easy as an autistic person. But at least with music, I have a common interest with all the other musicians. So it’s easier to find something to talk about.
